Research Interests

I am mainly interested in microbial evolution, focuses on adaptive changes of unicellular organisms like bacteria, yeast. Thus, during my Bachelor's I studied on the adaptation of Actinobacillus succinogenes bacteria by using serial transfer technique. Then in my MSc, I decided to expand my evolutionary knowledge by combining with ecological approaches so that I've started working on a 'Fitness Consequences of Outcrossing and Inbreeding on Wild Yeasts in Nature' project. In this project, we focus on non-domesticated S. paradoxus yeast that is the closest species to S. cerevisiae (baker's yeast). The aim of this project is to find a trace among breeding type, environment and its effect on fitness. In this way, it can be enlightened that what sort of environmental (stable or fluctuated) conditions contribute to the fitness of outcrossed and inbred cells. Plus, all of these interactions can be formulized via mathematical models and used for in silico predictions of evolutionary processes.
