Current Project

My research focuses on the plant pathogen Pyrenophora teres and its two subspecies P. teres f. teres (PTT) and P. teres f. maculata (PTM). PTT and PTM both infect barley but hybridization is rarely observed in the field indicating incipient speciation. Using genetic crosses and population genomics, I will test the genetic and phenotypic basis of speciation.
