Research interests

My research interests include numerous aspects of fungal genomics, diversity, ecology, taxonomy, systematics and genomic evolution. My previous research has focused namely on mating-type evolution in Basidiomycetes, fungal community ecology and roles in natural ecosystem processes, and biostatistics approaches. In my project at Stukenbrock’s lab, I will study the Trichosporonales order and (1) address genome evolution associated with lifestyle transitions from saprobic to pathogenic by comparative genomics; (2) determine specific physiological adaptations and genomic signatures associated with the different lifestyles; (3) determine the taxonomic diversity within the group; and (4) provide insights into how new fungal pathogens emerge.
